Klöckner Pentaplast recently became one of the 300 members of the "Save Food" organization, and thus actively contributes to reducing the waste and loss of food. "Save Food" is a joint initiative of the Food and Agriculture Organization FAO, the environmental program of the United Nations, UNEP, Düsseldorf Trade Fair, and "interpack", the international trade fair for packaging machines and processes. Through a wide range of projects, fairs and conferences, the companies participating in this initiative want to raise awareness among decision-makers in politics, the economy and industry, as well as among consumers, and significantly counteract the waste of food.
"This membership is very important to our company. With our innovative, sustainable packaging solutions, we make a perceptible contribution to reducing the waste of food", explains Giles Peacock, Group Senior Vice President Packaging & Specialties EMEA and Asia, at Klöckner Pentaplast.
"Recycling and special product protection are major factors in our development processes. Further development is continuously ongoing on our sophisticated technologies and formulas, as well as our sustainable production methods", says Peacock.
Improving the storage life of food is one of the greatest global challenges; and packaging plays a central role in the food value chain.
