The Argentinean Packaging Institute has started this year with several activities focused on Save Food initiative.
The first one, has started at INTERPACK 2017 this past May, where we had the possibility to show and expose, inside SaveFood Innovation Park, about different approach strategies in Argentina, regarding SaveFood focus on three main axis as follow, Collaboration, Communication and Training.
In that sense, we plan a dedicated place for Save Food initiatives inside ENVASE / ALIMENTEK 2017, the main and bigger packaging fair exhibition in South Latin America. This fair will be on August 8 to 11, here, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and we will invite several companies like packaging converters and final users, that will show their innovations in terms of Save Food actions. We are also preparing an agenda with different exhibitors.
In third place, we are working right now in a new category award "Save Food packaging awards" inside our Estrella del Sur awards (http://www.packaging.com.ar/medioambiente/premios-estrella-del-sur.php), that allow us to incentive and challenge companies to invest in Save Food packaging products.
Lastly, we are developing the preliminary guidelines to add Save Food contents inside our current Packaging Postgraduate program. Our intention is to start on 2018 requesting and challenge our post degree students about their final thesis with special focus on Save Food initiatives.
We think that is very important to start communicating these initiatives in all supply chain, reaching also end users. Education and professional training should be the basis for developing more awareness and to achieve effective reduction of food loss.
