Avine is a company located in the Northeast of Brazil, considered the second poorest region in the country, harmed by the lack of rain and by the hunger. We produce chicken eggs, quail eggs, pasteurized eggs and organic fertilizer and our mission is to bring people healthy food, expanding sustainable business and making friends.
We found at Save The Food a big opportunity to improve our sustainability, once the project aims on reducing food loss and waste. Food loss and waste have always been the main targets of our production, because we believe that living in a place where poverty is so present, food loss and waste is something not acceptable. Besides, we also assume that the world has a great challenge in hunger overcoming and making sustainability come true. The population is growing up, specially in poorer countries, so producers like Avine carry the responsibility of supplying the necessity of healthy and cheap food of people around the world.
We understand food loss and waste represents the opposite of sustainability. A home with loss and waste requires more money to keep alive as well as a company with loss and waste has higher costs and consequently sells at higher prices. Also a manufacturing process with high loss and waste requires more natural and human resources to produce the same amount. Save The Food Initiative is the perfect partner for teaching and helping Avine how to accomplish its mission on sustainability and even share some good experiences we have performed here in Brazilian Northeast region.
