Dr. Johannes Bergmair, born in 1973, studied food and bio engineering at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) in Vienna. His special field of expertise in packaging is cross-company quality management in the food supply chain. In this field he not only published numerous magazine articles but also obtained a Ph.D. from the Technical University Vienna in autumn 2002. From 2000 to 2016 he worked at the OFI Packaging Institute in Vienna and also served as its Director from April 2003. Since early 2017 Johannes Bergmair has run his own company PACKAGING EXPERTS as a packaging engineer.
Dr. Bergmair holds numerous packaging technology courses at several Austrian and German universities and universities of applied sciences, serves as a legal expert for goods packaging cases and – as a “packaging” product expert – also as an auditor for hygiene management systems. Dr. Bergmair is a member of the Austrian standards committee for “packaging” and is the Austrian member on the WPO board (World Packaging Organisation). Since May 2015 he has served WPO as Vice President for Sustainability and Food Safety.
