The results of the FAO study for the Düsseldorf SAVE FOOD congress on the occasion of interpack 2011 bore it out: About one third of the food produced every year goes to waste, and this is a problem concerning both rich nations and developing countries alike. So far, there still is a dearth of reliable figures concerning the amounts and the reasons behind this. The SAVE FOOD initiative, therefore, put itself the target of establishing a basis for measures against world-wide food losses by additional research to sensitise the public for this issue.
Organisations, political institutions, universities and individuals, committed to working on this subject with a professional and/or scientific background are invited to participate in an online survey of the “FAO Global Forum on Food Security and Nutrition“ in the context of the SAVE FOOD initiative with immediate effect. The survey is made up of eleven questions. Afterwards, all participants will have access to the results and they may use them for their own studies.
